Under recently passed state law (2025 SB1005), the St. George City Council can impose an emergency-services sales tax of up to 0.33% without voter approval, following a public hearing and Council approval. Our local legislators voted for this, including Owens (also a sponsor), Vickers, Ipson, Elison (also a sponsor), Jack, Walter, and Brooks.
